What is a Dry socket?
An infection that can arise, in the days after a tooth extraction, is known as a Dry socket. When a dental extraction is done, the space or the socket where the roots of the tooth sit are exposed forming a blood clot on it. This helps in healing and protects the nerve endings in the empty dental cavity. Sometimes this blood clot may not be formed due to some factors or the contamination of food debris may disappear or smoke during the healing process. This develops a very painful disease/infection or process known as Dry socket.
causes or factors of Dry socket

Bacterial contamination of the alveolus;
The proliferation of bacteria in the alveolus can produce an infection that starts disappearing the protective blood clot.
Contamination of food debris;
If correct hygiene measures are not followed, food debris may remain inside the alveolus, contaminating it.
Excessive trauma at the time of tooth extraction;
