How long does it take to become a Dental Hygienist? 

It takes a minimum of two years and a maximum of four years to become a dental hygienist. If you want to add an associate degree program to the dental hygienist, it takes three years. Moreover to become a practicing dental hygienist, first, you have to pass the exam for linens. In these two-four years, you are practicing the theory as well as the practical work.

How hard is it to become a Dental Hygienist?

Nothing is hard, and nothing is impossible if you are focused and a hard-working person. But as compared to other fields Dental Hygienist is quite a simple and easy job to do.

Furthermore, your interest must be related to dental hygiene. If You want to help people with dental issues then a hygienist is the best option.

How much does it cost to become a Dental Hygienist?

As compared to  BS in Dental and BDS, a Dental Hygienist degree is very cheap but a licensed dental hygienist is more expensive. In Pakistan, It costs about Rs120000+ for a simple hygienist and  200,000+ \for a licensed depending on the college management. It also varies from country to country. Dental Hygienists working in Washington and California earn around $90,000 a year.

What is the pay range for Dental hygienists?

pay range is also different in different countries. One can run a Dental clinic and earn Rs100000+ depending on the number of patients visiting the clinic. In hospitals, it is RS 80,000+ for licensed Dental hygienists. But without a license, you can't do a job abroad and be paid lower in your own country i.e RS20000+.


Duties of Dental Hygienist

If a hygienist has a license he/she can open his/her own clinic, where he/she can do all kinds of work  that a dentist do except the work where local anesthesia is required, They can do scaling  and polishing, root planning, Tooth bridge, tooth implant,
works under the supervision of a dentist 
According to books, the OPD of a patient is the job of the Hygienist
Scaling and polishing(mouth cleansing)
Radiography; Hygienists must know   how to do X-Ray of teeth
In the hospital, most hygienist works in the department of Periodontology where Problems related to gum diseases and oral hygiene are resolved.
Tooth build-up(filling when a tooth breaks )
Fillings(composite filling, amalgam filling ...)
Giving prescriptions 
Advising about a Healthy Diet after teeth treatment
